About

Jen Rocket

My sewing journey began with my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother. Our elders felt strongly that my sisters, cousins, and I should learn this craft and benefit from the rewards it could offer. From simple beadwork and hand sewing to pinning and cutting shapes for the sewing machine, by age five I was hooked!

Since those early days, I have been both fascinated by and actively practicing various techniques in the art of sewing. My path to production-level design and implementation began with studying industrial design, a materials- and process-based field that set the tone for further exploration in both my educational and career paths. This journey has incorporated entertainment design, costume design, couture tailoring, and technical fashion design. Together, these experiences illuminated the path toward sewn product design, also known as soft goods design.

Does your project require a unique application of technology or construction?

About

Soft Goods:

In the simplest terms, ‘soft goods’ refers to engineering with fabric and thread, or alternatively, it refers to sculpture with fabric and thread.

New materials and construction techniques allow for the creation of advanced wearable technologies. Often the solution to your product is simply in the inventiveness of its construction. Sewing is the technology. Having worked on a number of sewing patents, we are confident that there is still plenty of room for innovation with fabric and thread.

We are building a catalog of learning—one that grows larger with every new challenge. New equipment, new materials, and new techniques move this craft forward and it is always our goal to be fearlessly learning and improving with them.

“The Studio” represents the work of my team and me, as well as the amazing community I get to collaborate with to explore the unknown.

Here are some of the types of new products we have brought to life:

  • Wearable Medical Products

  • Juvenile Products

  • Sports & Fitness Gear

  • Tactical & Military Gear

  • Utilitarian Garments

  • Outdoor Equipment

  • Pet Toys, Accessories, & Gear

  • Television & Film Props

  • Character Puppetry

  • Mascot Costuming
